Day 3: Now the Son of Man is Glorified

On 28th February 2020, YEF Singapore members continue to meditate on book of John, focusing on John 13:30~32.

verse 30: As soon as Judas had taken the bread, he went out. And it was night.

verse 31-32: When he was gone, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man is glorified and God is glorified in him.  If God is glorified in him,God will glorify the Son in himself, and will glorify him at once.

One member shared her graceful reflection:

Judas completely left Jesus once he took the bread. No matter what God said, Judas chose to take his own path and he disappeared into the night (Darkness). Just as his soul fell into the darkness. Jesus knew from the start Judas would betray. He believed in Judas and even trusted Judas with their money. Yet, after all the love and patience Jesus showed Judas, Judas did not reciprocate and gave up this precious love of God. We each cannot say that we will not become like Judas because we are all sinners and weak in spirit and flesh. The disciples could not see the love the woman had for Jesus in Matthew 26:6. She broke the alabaster jar of expensive perfume (the most expensive/ precious thing she had) for Jesus. She knew how precious and worthy Jesus is. This is holy wastage. This is how she expressed her love by giving up something so precious to her. To the disciples, they could not see this. Their idea of love is calculative which is their own thoughts, but this is not how love should be. Love is unconditional.

Knowing that Judas has not turned back, Jesus proclaimed that the Son of Man is glorified. And this means that He knows the cross is confirmed and He will have to walk that path. He had absolute faith in God as He walked this path. We should know that the cross is not cursed or something to be fearful of, but to know on the cross, this is how God demonstrated His love for us. Jesus overcame all fear and pain through trust in God. This is how we should walk – in full trust that God will bring us through all pain and fear.

May God continue to shower blessings and grace upon YEF members!
