Day 19: Take this Cup from Me, at Your Will

On 18 March 2020, YEF members meditated on Mark 14 on the prayer of Jesus at Gethsemane.

One member shared:

In Jesus’ prayer, we can really feel His pain. The kind of agony and what we would call our own “self- torture”. If it were any of us who had to walk this path for God, we would fall for satan’s lies that we are just causing unnecessary pain for ourselves and that we don’t actually have to be like this. But Jesus only listened to God and trusted fully in God’s plans and will. He already set His heart to walk this difficult path [John 13:36-28].

This is how we know it is worth everything to walk with God. Jesus’ whole life is testament to God’s power and promise. If we follow God, ultimately there is glory and eternal things. But with satan who lies and tries to get us to give up, we see that after a while we will end up with nothing. There is suffering but in God, it is never for nothing and God will surely and assuredly bless us.

This is the hope and conviction we have to keep walking and want to live like Jesus. To carry our cross and walk the same path as Jesus.
